IN-ABC members recognize the importance of providing a high level of professional standards for providers of Behavior Management services in the State of Indiana. The designation of Registered Behavioral Consultant (RBC) has been created as a way of ensuring consistently high standards among providers of Behavior Management services.

When searching for a provider of Behavior Consultation services, the RBC designation can assist in assuring that Behavior Management provider has demonstrated a high standard of both education and experience.
The designation of RBC indicates that the practitioner's qualifications are above and beyond the minimum standards specified by the Indiana Medicaid Waiver. In addition to providing a combination of professional and ethical references during the application process, an RBC must meet the following requirements:
An RBC must be a member in good standing with IN-ABC,
AND
PLUShave completed three (3) years of full time employment with primary emphasis in:
- working with individuals with developmental disabilities in devising, implementing, and monitoring behavioral support plans; and
- the supervision and training of others in the implementation of behavioral support strategies
OR
PLUShave completed three (3) years of full time employment with primary emphasis in:
- working with individuals with developmental disabilities in devising, implementing, and monitoring behavioral support plans; and
- the supervision and training of others in the implementation of behavioral support strategies
It is important to point out that not all providers of Behavior Management need have the RBC designation to provide service. Also, an individual can be a full member in good standing of IN-ABC and not carry the RBC designation. The designation is optional.
